AC Milan locks in teenage midfielder Christian Comotto until 2031, signaling club’s long-term talent strategy

AC Milan has secured Christian Comotto, the 18-year-old Italian central midfielder, to a new five-year contract that keeps him at the Rossoneri until June 2031.

Comotto’s trajectory has been unusually rapid. Born on April 25, 2008, he initially signed a professional contract with AC Milan in July 2024, a deal set to expire in June 2027. That alone was notable for a player who was just 16 at the time.

By August 2025, Milan had already upgraded those terms. The club extended his contract to June 2028 while simultaneously loaning him to Spezia Calcio until June 2026 to get competitive minutes in a senior environment.

Now the club has gone further still, pushing the expiry date out to 2031.

Reports from July 2026 placed Comotto alongside fellow young talent Francesco Camarda as the two prospects Milan views as central to its future squad construction. The club has been deliberate about wrapping up these deals before the players’ market value outpaces what Milan can afford to pay in contract negotiations.
