Anthropic IPO odds climb to 90% as new Claude models launch

1 hour ago 24

Anthropic is quietly doing everything a company does right before it goes public. The AI safety firm filed a confidential draft registration statement on Form S-1 with the SEC on June 1, 2026. Prediction markets now put the odds of an IPO completing by October 31 at roughly 90%.

For context on the stakes: Anthropic’s most recent funding round, a $65 billion Series H, pushed its valuation to approximately $965 billion.

What just shipped

On September 1, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5.1 in general availability and Claude Mythos 5.1 in limited release. Both models are built around reasoning and coding performance, and both carry a 1 million-token context window, which is large enough to ingest an entire codebase or a multi-year document archive in a single prompt.

Pricing is tiered at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens.

The IPO math

Anthropic’s annualized revenue is estimated at $47 billion. That figure, against a near-$965 billion valuation, implies a revenue multiple that would make even seasoned growth investors do a double take. For comparison, most mature software businesses trade at five to fifteen times revenue. Anthropic, pre-public, is priced closer to twenty times.

Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, and Morgan Stanley are reported to be among the lead underwriters.

Prediction markets assigned a 76% probability to an October IPO completion earlier in the cycle. That figure has since climbed toward 90% as the S-1 filing, model launches, and underwriter selection all moved in sequence.

Competitive backdrop and what comes next

Anthropic is not alone in eyeing public markets. OpenAI and SpaceX are both frequently cited as candidates for high-profile listings.

For enterprise buyers, the IPO carries its own implications. Public companies face disclosure requirements that private firms do not. Anthropic will have to publish detailed revenue breakdowns, customer concentration data, and risk factors that are currently opaque to the market.
