The token-shaped elephant in the room

Base founder Jesse Pollak first disclosed during the BaseCamp event in September 2025 that the team was exploring a native network token. Pollak has recently stepped back from leading the Base App to focus entirely on positioning Base as critical infrastructure for global financial transactions.

Base’s bigger restructuring play

The community call arrives during a significant operational pivot for the network. Base underwent a reorganization in July 2026 designed to sharpen its focus on three specific areas: payments, trading, and AI infrastructure.
