Bitdeer Technologies Group just locked in a 10-year AI cloud agreement in Malaysia that’s expected to generate roughly $1.1 billion in annual revenue. The total value of the contract lands around $6 billion over its lifetime, and it arrives alongside an AI cloud pipeline that has already surpassed $7 billion across multiple agreements.
What Bitdeer is building in Malaysia
Bitdeer’s AI arm has been assembling infrastructure across Malaysia, with campuses in both Johor and Cyberjaya. The crown jewel so far is its 9.5MW A102 data center in Malaysia, which is already fully committed. That single facility is expected to generate more than $800 million in revenue over five years.
Within that A102 campus, Bitdeer has secured a five-year contract worth approximately $400 million, covering roughly 50% of the data center’s capacity. That contract is set to kick in starting Q1 2027.
Separately, Bitdeer signed a 10-year lease for 21.7MW of AI cloud capacity in Johor Bahru. That facility will house 128 NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 systems. The company has also earned designation as a preferred NVIDIA Cloud Partner.
From Bitcoin mining to AI cloud: the pivot in context
Bitdeer, listed on Nasdaq under the ticker BTDR, started life as a Bitcoin mining operation. The company was founded by ex-Bitmain CEO Jihan Wu and is now pursuing a hybrid model rather than a full exit from mining, with Bitdeer AI established as a dedicated division for its cloud infrastructure business.
The company’s target of reaching up to 350MW of global AI cloud capacity by Q1 2028 underscores the scale of ambition. Malaysian facilities are expected to contribute a significant portion of that total.
Why Malaysia
Malaysia has emerged as a destination for data center operators looking to serve the Asia-Pacific region. Johor sits just across the border from Singapore, giving tenants low-latency access without Singapore’s real estate costs.
