The USDC logo is coming to the Premier League. Circle Internet Group (NYSE: CRCL), the issuer of the world’s most widely used regulated stablecoin, has signed a principal partnership with Chelsea Football Club, making it the club’s front-of-shirt sponsor starting from the 2026/27 season.
The deal marks the first time a USDC-branded sponsor has appeared on the front of a Premier League shirt.
What the deal actually looks like
Both the Circle and USDC logos will appear on jerseys worn by Chelsea’s men’s, women’s, and academy teams. The sponsorship is structured as a one-year agreement with an option to extend. It debuted publicly on August 30, 2026, when Chelsea hosted Brighton in a Premier League home fixture at Stamford Bridge.
Why Circle is spending on a football kit
Circle went public on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker CRCL. The company has been expanding USDC’s infrastructure and institutional adoption, including obtaining a trust charter in New York. The executives involved in the announcement emphasized global reach and innovation as the thematic anchors of the partnership.
Crypto sponsorships in sport: where this fits
The crypto industry’s relationship with elite sport has had a turbulent few years. FTX famously paid for naming rights to the Miami Heat’s arena, then collapsed spectacularly in late 2022. Crypto.com secured its own high-profile arena deal in Los Angeles. Coinbase has run Super Bowl campaigns.
What makes the Circle deal different is the company behind it. Circle is a regulated, publicly listed entity with transparent reserves backing its stablecoin. USDC is not a speculative asset. Chelsea entered the 2026/27 season without a long-term front-of-shirt sponsor before this announcement.
