Coinbase Advanced now offers fully customizable charts with options for line or candlestick views, an adjustable Y-axis, and asset type filters, bringing its charting toolkit closer to what you’d expect from a dedicated trading terminal.
What the update actually includes
The customizable charts let users toggle between candlestick and line views. Users can also select timeframes and apply technical indicators to their price charts, then save those preferences on a per-market basis.
Saving chart settings per market means a trader watching Bitcoin on a 4-hour candlestick chart with RSI overlaid doesn’t have to rebuild that setup every time they switch to checking Ethereum on a different timeframe.
The charting capabilities are powered by TradingView integration, which gives users access to more than 100 indicators and custom drawing tools.
Beyond the charting updates, a modular interface update introduced a customizable dashboard with over 20 widgets. Users can deploy pre-built templates or build entirely bespoke layouts from scratch.
Building on a pattern of incremental upgrades
Coinbase has been steadily layering on trading tools throughout 2025 and into 2026. Previous updates expanded candle intervals, including introducing 4-hour candles.
The June 2026 modular interface update was the most significant single release in this chain. Introducing over 20 customizable widgets in one go transformed Coinbase Advanced from a trading page with charts into something closer to a configurable cockpit.
Why this matters for Coinbase’s competitive position
The crypto exchange landscape has gotten meaningfully more competitive. Platforms like Binance, Bybit, and OKX have long offered advanced charting and customizable interfaces to attract professional traders. Coinbase’s edge has traditionally been its regulatory standing and brand trust in the US market.
As crypto markets mature and attract more participants with traditional finance backgrounds, those users arrive with expectations shaped by Bloomberg terminals and ThinkOrSwim. A platform that can’t offer at least a baseline of customizable charting and indicator support risks looking amateur by comparison.
