Fenerbahçe targets Serhou Guirassy as top transfer priority, hopes Dortmund will budge on price

Fenerbahçe has zeroed in on Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy as their primary transfer target this summer, hoping to pry the Guinean forward loose for somewhere between €30 million and €35 million. There’s just one problem: Dortmund doesn’t seem interested in playing ball.

The German club is reportedly holding firm at a valuation around €40 million, and their sporting director Lars Ricken has stated publicly that no formal offer has been received and that BVB have no intention of selling.

The gap between hope and reality

Guirassy’s agent, Karamba Guirassy, confirmed as recently as June 12 that no agreement has been reached with Fenerbahçe. The player, he noted, is exploring various options.

Dortmund acquired Guirassy from VfB Stuttgart on July 18, 2024, for €18 million. His contract runs through June 2028, which gives Dortmund significant leverage. When you have a player locked up for two more years, there’s no urgency to sell, especially not at a price below your asking level.

The math from Dortmund’s perspective makes sense. They paid €18 million. They’re asking €40 million. That’s a clean profit of €22 million on a player who has established himself as a vital part of their squad. Selling for €30-35 million still nets a healthy return, but why leave money on the table when the contract situation doesn’t force your hand?

Fenerbahçe, meanwhile, is reportedly exploring creative fee structures and payment plans to bridge the gap between the two valuations.

Why Fenerbahçe wants Guirassy so badly

The pursuit of Guirassy hasn’t materialized overnight. Interest from the Istanbul club intensified through May and June 2026, coinciding with internal developments and leadership transitions at Fenerbahçe.

Guirassy scored 13 goals in Champions League matches during one campaign, significantly elevating his market value, which currently stands at approximately €32 million.

The challenge is that Fenerbahçe’s ambitions and their apparent budget don’t quite align with Dortmund’s expectations. A €5-10 million gap might sound manageable, but in transfer negotiations, that range can be the difference between a deal getting done in a week and talks dragging on for the entire summer.

Investors and fans tracking Turkish football should also note what this pursuit says about the Super Lig’s financial trajectory. Fenerbahçe even contemplating a €30-35 million transfer fee shows how far the league’s spending power has come.

The window is still young, and with no official bid yet submitted, this story has plenty of room to develop. Fenerbahçe wants Guirassy at a price that works for them, and Dortmund sees no reason to make it easy. The next move likely depends on whether Fenerbahçe is willing to inch closer to that €40 million mark, or whether they’ll pivot to alternative targets if Dortmund refuses to budge.
