Harry Kane has won the European Golden Shoe for the second time, capping off a 2025/26 campaign that saw the Bayern Munich forward bury 36 goals in the Bundesliga. That total translated to 72 points in the award’s ranking system, comfortably clear of every other striker on the continent.
Kane’s goals helped Bayern clinch both the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal, meaning the 32-year-old can finally pair personal honors with the trophies that matter in a club’s cabinet.
How Kane outpaced the competition
The European Golden Shoe, awarded by European Sports Media since 1997, uses a points system that weights goals based on league quality. Strikers in the top five European leagues receive a multiplier of two, meaning each Bundesliga, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, or Ligue 1 goal is worth two points.
Kane’s 36 goals produced 72 points. Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s Norwegian goal machine, finished second with 27 Premier League goals and 54 points. Kylian Mbappé rounded out the podium from Real Madrid, scoring 25 La Liga goals for 50 points.
The gap between Kane and Haaland was 18 points, or the equivalent of nine top-league goals.
A second Golden Shoe, a new level of consistency
Kane first won the award in the 2023/24 season, his debut campaign in Munich. Winning it again two seasons later puts him in rarefied company. The list of players who have claimed the Golden Shoe multiple times is short, populated by names like Lionel Messi (six times) and Cristiano Ronaldo (four times).
What this means for Kane’s legacy and Bayern’s ambitions
The formal ceremony is scheduled for August 19, 2026, at the FC Bayern Museum.
Winning the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in the same season he claimed the Golden Shoe places Kane’s 2025/26 campaign among the best individual seasons by any striker in recent European football history.
Robert Lewandowski, who wore the same Bayern shirt, scored 35 Bundesliga goals at age 32 and kept producing well beyond that.
