Intel and AMD collectively patched more than 80 security vulnerabilities on February 11, 2026, delivering one of the more substantial Patch Tuesday drops in recent memory. None of the flaws were being actively exploited in the wild.
Intel’s side of the ledger included 18 new security advisories covering more than 30 distinct issues. Four of those carried a “high severity” rating, the second-most urgent tier on the standard classification scale. The affected products ranged across Intel’s ecosystem, touching firmware utilities and performance tools alongside processor-level concerns.
AMD went even bigger by raw count. The company published seven advisories addressing over 50 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures, or CVEs. Think of a CVE as a unique serial number assigned to each confirmed security flaw so researchers, vendors, and IT teams can all talk about the same bug without confusion.
The most notable cluster in AMD’s disclosure involved 14 vulnerabilities specifically targeting Athlon and Ryzen processors. The potential consequences of exploitation ranged from unauthorized access to privilege escalation to outright code execution on the target machine.
Another 15 vulnerabilities landed in AMD’s graphics drivers.
Patch Tuesday has been a fixture of the tech calendar since Microsoft formalized the concept back in 2003. Intel and AMD have adopted the same cadence, coordinating their disclosures on the second Tuesday of each month.
A release of this scale puts real pressure on enterprise IT teams. Every patch needs to be tested for compatibility before deployment, and processor-level or firmware-level fixes are particularly delicate. A botched BIOS update can brick a machine entirely, which means organizations often move cautiously, leaving a window of exposure even after patches become available.
This batch of fixes arrives against a backdrop of intensifying scrutiny on hardware-level security. The semiconductor industry has been playing catch-up ever since the Spectre and Meltdown disclosures in early 2018 revealed that fundamental design choices in modern processors could be exploited to leak sensitive data. Those revelations forced Intel, AMD, and ARM to rethink how they approach speculative execution, a performance optimization technique baked into virtually every modern chip.
Since then, both companies have invested heavily in security research programs, bug bounties, and coordinated disclosure processes. The fact that neither Intel nor AMD reported active exploitation for any of the 80-plus vulnerabilities patched this cycle suggests those programs are working as intended.
