Leeds United agree to sign Harry Wilson as free agent

Leeds United have reached an agreement to bring in Harry Wilson on a free transfer, landing the Welsh attacking midfielder after his contract with Fulham expires on June 30. It’s the kind of signing that looks even better when you remember they tried to get him six months ago and got turned away at the door.

Wilson, 29, had no shortage of suitors. Aston Villa and Everton were both circling, but Leeds positioned themselves with a lucrative long-term contract proposal that apparently proved persuasive enough to close the deal before the summer window even officially opens.

From deadline day rejection to free agent coup

Leeds made a play for Wilson on January deadline day earlier this year, only for Fulham to slam the door shut and refuse the transfer. Now Leeds gets the same player without paying a transfer fee.

The Athletic reported on June 19 that Leeds had zeroed in on Wilson as one of their primary free agent targets, alongside Julian Brandt.

A product of Liverpool’s academy, Wilson carved out a genuine Premier League career at Fulham, where his left foot and set-piece delivery became a reliable weapon.

The fan token footnote and market context

Leeds maintains a fan token, LUFC, which is currently trading at approximately $0.03 with low daily trading volume.

Reports indicate that heightened betting activity around the Wilson-to-Leeds rumors led bookmakers to suspend related markets before the agreement was confirmed.
