Kylian Mbappé just collected another piece of hardware for what must be an increasingly crowded trophy cabinet. The French forward received the UEFA Champions League top scorer trophy from Real Madrid legend Luis Figo, capping off a campaign where he put the ball in the net 15 times across just 11 appearances.
A record-setting run through Europe
Mbappé’s 15-goal haul in the 2025/26 Champions League set a new record for league phase goals. This is his second time claiming the competition’s golden boot, having previously topped the scoring charts during the 2023/24 season while still wearing Paris Saint-Germain colors.
With 70 career Champions League goals now on his ledger, Mbappé is building a European resume that puts him in rare company. Cristiano Ronaldo still sits atop the all-time list with 140 to 141 goals, meaning Mbappé is roughly halfway to the record held by another former Real Madrid number seven.
The season beyond the Champions League
Mbappé’s European exploits were just one slice of a season that bordered on absurd productivity. He also finished as La Liga’s top scorer with 25 goals, securing his second Pichichi award. That domestic crown came alongside the European Golden Shoe, given to the continent’s most prolific league scorer. On the international stage, he became the leading goal scorer in FIFA World Cup history for the season, netting 10 goals.
The one trophy that still matters most
For all the personal silverware, the Champions League title itself has eluded Mbappé since his move to Real Madrid. The club brought him in precisely to help deliver more of them, and individual awards are ultimately measured against the team’s collective achievements at the Bernabéu.
