Manchester City and Saudi Pro League club Al Qadsiah have reached a verbal agreement for the transfer of Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders, with the deal valued at €61 million. The move, agreed upon on August 13, 2026, now hinges on whether Reijnders himself wants to make the switch to the Middle East.
If completed, City would pocket a tidy profit on a player they signed just over a year ago from AC Milan for approximately £46.3 million, or roughly €55 million.
A productive but complicated year at the Etihad
Reijnders arrived at Manchester City in June 2025, joining as part of a midfield refresh at the Etihad Stadium. His first season in England was, by most measures, a successful one. He racked up around 50 appearances across all competitions, contributing 7 goals and 8 assists.
Those numbers helped City secure both the FA Cup and EFL Cup during the 2025/26 campaign.
Despite his contributions, Reijnders reportedly struggled to lock down a consistent starting role in Pep Guardiola’s notoriously competitive squad. At 28, Reijnders is entering what should be his peak years, and the prospect of being a centerpiece rather than a rotation option clearly carries some weight.
Al Qadsiah’s European shopping spree
Al Qadsiah, managed by former Liverpool and Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers since December 2025, has been aggressively building a squad capable of competing at the top of the Saudi Pro League.
Al Qadsiah isn’t the only club interested. Nottingham Forest have also expressed interest in securing Reijnders’ services, which could give the midfielder a genuine decision to make.
Reijnders’ career trajectory has been a steady upward climb. Born on July 29, 1998, in Zwolle, Netherlands, he developed through AZ Alkmaar’s system before making a name for himself at AC Milan. During his time in Serie A, he won the Supercoppa Italiana and established himself as one of Europe’s more dynamic central midfielders, known for his ability to contribute both in build-up play and in the final third.
