Jack Grealish, the 30-year-old Manchester City forward who once commanded a British-record transfer fee, won’t be joining his teammates on their pre-season tour of Asia. The reason is a lingering foot injury sustained during a loan spell at Everton last season.
What happened with Grealish
Grealish returned to Manchester City training on July 20, 2026, but has been working separately from the main squad. He’s recovering from a foot injury picked up during the 2025/26 campaign while on loan at Everton.
New City manager Enzo Maresca had reportedly planned to integrate Grealish into pre-season activities. Those plans didn’t survive contact with reality.
Multiple reports confirmed between July 27 and 28 that Grealish would miss the upcoming Asian tour entirely. The player himself took to Instagram to provide an update on his status.
“Nice to see everyone, am nearly there! Hopefully not long now till back training for good.”
Everton reportedly retains interest in Grealish, though no transfer has been finalized. His future at City remains uncertain.
