Nexo reaffirms EEA compliance through MiCAR-licensed German partners

Nexo has doubled down on its European strategy, publicly confirming that it operates across the European Economic Area through two German firms that hold MiCAR licenses. The platform is using Tangany for custody services and DLT Finance for brokerage and trading, a setup designed to keep its EEA operations running smoothly under the continent’s new crypto rulebook.

Tangany, a Munich-based custody specialist, is the backbone of Nexo’s asset safeguarding in the EEA. The firm holds more than €3 billion in assets under custody, serving over 60 institutional clients and more than 700,000 end customers. On the trading side, DLT Finance out of Frankfurt handles brokerage functions. The firm carries both BaFin authorization and MiFID II licensing. DLT Finance is currently in a ramp-up phase following its MiCAR authorization, meaning it’s still scaling its capabilities under the new regime.

Nexo first signaled its MiCA readiness back on June 15, 2026, stating that services would remain uninterrupted under German oversight as the transition from national frameworks kicked in. The latest reaffirmation, made around July 28, reinforces that the plumbing is in place and functioning.

The structure also enables passporting—the ability to offer services across all EEA member states under a single authorization. Previously, crypto firms had to navigate a maze of national VASP (Virtual Asset Service Provider) and CASP (Crypto-Asset Service Provider) registrations. MiCAR consolidates all of that into one framework, and Nexo’s German-licensed partners give it access to the entire bloc.

Nexo has also been clear that the NEXO token’s functionality within the platform won’t change as a result of the MiCAR transition. The company is projecting continuity, which is the best possible signal in a regulatory environment that has forced competitors to modify or eliminate token-related features.
