Key Takeaways:

  • The National Cryptocurrency Association (NCA) launches to enhance crypto literacy in the US.
  • Ripple commits $50 million to support NCA’s mission of educating and empowering users.
  • NCA aims to cut through misinformation, offering clear guidance on crypto adoption.

The National Cryptocurrency Association has officially launched, marking a milestone toward filling the knowledge gap in the crypto space. With the president being Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer, Stuart Alderoty, the non-profit organization will empower both users and businesses by providing them with the facts and tools to successfully navigate the emerging digital asset landscape.

The @NatCryptoAssoc (NCA) officially launches today, and I’m excited to join as President (in addition to my role as Chief Legal Officer at Ripple).

As opposed to political advocacy groups, the NCA is an open forum that will educate and enable users rather than advance an agenda. As over 55 million Americans already use cryptocurrencies, the need for an organization dedicated to transparency and education has never been greater.

The NCA aims to make blockchain technology understandable through the presentation of real-world applications and individual examples. The aim is to give users practical information to allow them to use digital assets effectively and securely in daily life.

Ripple’s $50 Million Commitment

In a firm show of solidarity, Ripple pledged to donate $50 million to fund the NCA programs to enable the organization to leave a lasting legacy. Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse emphasized that crypto is not a fad but a new paradigm shift for the financial system.

He further added that the use of crypto has been slowed down in the US by misinformation, regulatory uncertainty, and high-profile failures like FTX. However, he is certain that education and appropriate usage will accelerate the pace of mass adoption.

In a bid to bolster its argument, the NCA partnered with Harris Poll to survey 10,000 crypto users around the country. The survey indicated that 81% of current holders are keen to know more about digital assets, with 76% stating that crypto has made them financially independent and provided them with more opportunities.

The organization is working towards filling this knowledge gap by providing simple-to-consume resources such as educational explainers and real-life examples highlighting crypto’s advantages.

Crypto’s Expanding Role in Everyday Life

Crypto’s use extends far beyond trading and speculations. The Harris Poll survey indicated that 39% use digital assets to shop, 32% use NFTs, and 21% trade digital collectibles.

Some employ crypto for remittances, gaming, and the development of decentralized apps, highlighting the adaptability beyond finance. The NCA will be a source that investors will turn to for education and participation.
