Trump signs executive order to boost AI-powered cyber defenses

President Donald Trump on Tuesday issued a sweeping executive order focused on accelerating AI-driven cybersecurity capabilities across government and critical infrastructure.

The directive calls on agencies including the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), the National Security Agency (NSA), and the Treasury Department to deploy AI-enabled cyber defenses, support advanced vulnerability detection programs, and establish a classified process for assessing the cyber capabilities of frontier AI models.

The order also encourages voluntary collaboration between AI companies and the federal government to improve the security of advanced models while protecting intellectual property and maintaining a market-driven approach to innovation.
