Built on self-custodial principles, the application ensures users maintain complete control over their digital assets. Core functionalities encompass stablecoin-based payments, cryptocurrency trading capabilities, and reward earning opportunities. The platform enables users to maintain account balances across eight distinct currencies while facilitating username-based transfers of supported digital assets between World Money users.

Stripe Partnership Enables Apple Pay-Powered Crypto Acquisitions

A standout capability stems from World’s collaboration with Stripe. American account holders now enjoy the convenience of funding their World Money accounts and acquiring stablecoins seamlessly through Apple Pay. World indicates that these conversions generally complete in just minutes.

The platform further expands its utility through Mini Apps—integrated third-party services. Current offerings encompass Kalshi, which provides prediction market functionality, alongside Morpho, operating as a decentralized lending solution.

World ID, the platform’s biometric-based identity authentication system, integrates directly into the application. Account holders completing identity verification gain access to enhanced reward multipliers across qualifying Earn programs.

Dedicated Apps for Identity Verification and Financial Services

This release represents a strategic separation of World’s offerings into two specialized applications. World ID App exclusively manages identity verification processes and credential storage. Meanwhile, World Money encompasses wallet functionality, payment processing, and comprehensive financial tools. Users who previously utilized the original World App can seamlessly transition using their existing account credentials.

Tools for Humanity, the organization behind World Money, was co-established by Sam Altman—who simultaneously serves as OpenAI’s chief executive—alongside Alex Blania.

The evolution toward a super app has been progressing systematically. March 2025 saw World incorporate cryptocurrency payment capabilities and messaging features into its platform. Later that summer, Circle deployed native USDC on World’s network, supplanting the previously bridged USDC within World App wallets.

October 2024 brought World App 3.0, introducing external Mini Apps alongside a Vault feature designed for asset yield generation. November 2025 witnessed a pilot program for virtual banking accounts targeting U.S. users, subsequently expanding internationally within a month. These accounts enabled automatic conversion of incoming paychecks and bank transfers into USDC.

World emphasizes that its ecosystem centers on authenticated human identity. The organization maintains that as artificial intelligence increasingly simplifies fraudulent account creation, a verified human network introduces essential trustworthiness to financial interactions.

“Money moves differently when accounts belong to people,” World stated in its official announcement.

The World Money launch represents another significant milestone in World’s mission to establish a comprehensive financial ecosystem powered by cryptocurrency infrastructure and human identity verification technology.
