Anthropic is building a personal finance tool directly into its Claude iOS app, one that would let users connect their bank accounts and hand the AI persistent access to their transaction data. The feature, called Claude Money, was discovered through unreleased interface components spotted during app testing on September 14, 2026.
The feature introduces a dedicated “Money” tab within the Claude iOS app. Users would be able to link bank accounts directly, giving Claude ongoing access to financial data rather than requiring one-off uploads of bank statements or CSV files.
With that persistent connection, Claude could analyze spending patterns, flag recurring payments, summarize account balances, and visualize financial trends over time.
The key differentiator here is the elimination of manual data entry. Existing personal finance workflows with AI typically require users to export statements and paste them into a chat window. Claude Money would skip that friction entirely by pulling transaction data directly from linked accounts.
This isn’t Anthropic’s first foray into finance-adjacent territory. The company has already built integrations with established finance tools like Rocket Money and Intuit, giving Claude users access to third-party financial capabilities. Claude Money appears to go a step further by bringing the financial data layer in-house rather than routing through partners.
Anthropic, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI researchers Dario and Daniela Amodei, launched the Claude iOS app back in May 2024. There’s currently no indication that the feature will be available on Claude’s web version, suggesting Anthropic views mobile as the natural home for always-on financial monitoring.
The security implications also deserve attention. Giving an AI model persistent access to bank transaction data raises obvious questions about data handling, storage, and breach risk. Financial data security is governed by regulations like the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and scrutinized by financial regulators. How Anthropic navigates those requirements could determine whether Claude Money becomes a mainstream feature or a cautionary tale.
