The club’s reported goal is to pair Lukeba with Pau Cubarsí and Andreas Christensen. Lukeba’s contract with Leipzig runs until June 2029, which gives the German club significant leverage. The price gap is the real story
Reported valuations for Lukeba currently range from €35 million to €70 million. That gap reflects the fundamental tension in this negotiation: Leipzig paid €34 million for a 20-year-old and watched him develop into a French international over three seasons, so selling at or near their original outlay makes little financial sense for them.
No deal has been finalized as of mid-August 2026, and the transfer remains firmly in the rumor category.
What Araujo’s exit actually means
Ronald Araujo has been Barcelona’s most dependable defensive presence for several seasons, making over 200 appearances for the club after joining in 2019. A loan structure with a purchase option is an unusual arrangement for a captain.
