Brazil is through to the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, and they will face Norway on July 5 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET.

The Selecao punched their ticket with a stoppage-time 2-1 win over Japan on June 29 in Houston. Norway secured their spot by beating Senegal 3-2. They are back in the knockout rounds for the first time since France 1998, a gap of 28 years.

The stakes at MetLife Stadium

The 2026 World Cup is the first edition to feature 48 teams, spread across venues in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

For Brazil, five World Cup titles set an expectation that no other nation carries quite the same way.

Ivory Coast, who were in contention to face Brazil before Norway’s result went through, would have been making their first-ever knockout round appearance. Norway had to beat a capable Senegal side to earn their place.
