PancakeSwap integrates with MetaMask to enhance liquidity for swaps

PancakeSwap is now live as a liquidity source within MetaMask’s swap aggregation system, giving the wallet’s massive user base access to better trade execution without ever leaving the MetaMask interface.

MetaMask’s swap aggregator works by scanning multiple liquidity sources every time a user initiates a trade. It compares rates, factors in slippage and fees, then routes the transaction through whichever source offers the best deal. PancakeSwap’s liquidity pools are now part of that comparison set.

The practical upside is straightforward: more liquidity sources mean tighter spreads and less slippage, particularly on BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum trading pairs where PancakeSwap has deep pools. PancakeSwap also leverages market maker integrations for lower-cost trade routing on both Ethereum and BNB Smart Chain.

PancakeSwap launched in September 2020 and quickly carved out a niche as the go-to DEX on BNB Smart Chain. During periods of peak Ethereum gas fees, when a simple Uniswap swap could cost more than the trade itself, PancakeSwap offered a dramatically cheaper alternative. The platform has since expanded to offer liquidity pools, yield farming, and staking across multiple chains.

In 2023, PancakeSwap rolled out its V3 upgrade, introducing concentrated liquidity. Liquidity providers can now focus their capital within specific price ranges instead of spreading it across the entire price curve. The team has also been working on V4, which is expected to add modular functionality, giving users and developers more granular control over how liquidity is deployed and managed.

MetaMask has supported custom networks including BNB Chain for years. Users can add BNB Smart Chain to their wallets and interact with PancakeSwap directly. The swap aggregation integration goes a step further by making PancakeSwap’s liquidity available passively, without requiring users to actively seek it out.
