Rangers consider bid for Manchester United goalkeeper Radek Vítek amid transfer battle

Rangers are keeping tabs on Radek Vítek, a 22-year-old goalkeeper currently tied to Manchester United, as the Scottish Premiership club looks to strengthen between the sticks ahead of next season. The interest has surfaced in the transfer market conversation, placing Vítek on Rangers’ shortlist as the club maps out defensive reinforcements.

Who is Radek Vítek?

Born on October 24, 2003, Vítek is a Czech shot-stopper who joined Manchester United in 2020 after transferring from Sigma Olomouc. Stints at Accrington Stanley and Austrian side Blau-Weiß Linz gave him senior football at progressively competitive levels. He is now at Bristol City on a season-long loan that runs until summer 2026.

In July 2025, Manchester United extended Vítek’s contract through to 2028. The Bristol City loan does include a January recall option for Manchester United, which means the parent club retains the ability to bring Vítek back mid-season if circumstances demand it.

Where Rangers fit in

Reports have framed a potential swap deal as one possible structure, though the specifics of any such arrangement remain entirely unconfirmed. A direct bid is also on the table as a theoretical option. At this stage, neither route has progressed beyond the level of Rangers doing their homework.

Bristol City have Vítek under loan through the summer of 2026, so any winter move would require the loan to be terminated or restructured. Manchester United would need to sanction the move and, if selling rather than lending, agree on a fee that reflects both Vítek’s age and his contract length.
