Sevilla FC is closing in on a deal to sign centre-back Arouna Sangante from Le Havre AC on a five-year contract, adding a 23-year-old Senegalese defender without spending a cent in transfer fees.

Sangante’s contract with Le Havre expires on June 30, 2026, which means Sevilla can bring him in on a free transfer. For a player whose estimated market value sat at approximately €8 million before the agreement, that’s a meaningful discount on a defender who captains a Ligue 1 side at just 23 years old.

The deal structure

The pre-contract agreement, confirmed by early March 2026, locks Sangante into a deal running through June 2031. Sevilla has also slapped a €50 million release clause on the contract, a figure that serves as both a protective measure and a statement of confidence in the player’s upside.

Born on April 12, 2002, Sangante has been a fixture in Le Havre’s first team since 2021. He rose through the ranks to become the club’s captain.

Sevilla had previously made a move for Sangante during the January 2026 transfer window. That effort didn’t materialize into a deal, but the club clearly kept the line open.

This signing marks Sevilla’s third confirmed acquisition for the 2026-27 season.
