The bracket is set. VALORANT’s slot at the Esports World Cup 2026 now has a shape, with 16 teams drawn into four groups of four ahead of a tournament running July 2-12, 2026, in Paris, France.
The VALORANT competition carries a $2 million prize pool, part of a much larger $75 million total distributed across more than 24 titles at EWC26.
What’s different about EWC26
This edition of the Esports World Cup marks a meaningful first: the event is leaving Riyadh. Previous iterations were anchored in Saudi Arabia, but ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East pushed organizers to relocate the entire festival to Paris.
The broader event runs July 6 through August 23, 2026, with an opening ceremony on July 8 featuring DJ Snake among others. The VALORANT portion, organized by ESL FACEIT Group and carrying an S-Tier designation, kicks off before the official festival opening, starting July 2.
Crypto gets a seat at the table, sort of
EWC26 is also introducing a notable policy shift around sponsorship. Licensed crypto and blockchain entities are now permitted to participate as sponsors, but under a specific and deliberately narrow set of conditions.
Permitted activations include jersey placement and global digital content. What’s off the table: on-site activations and any direct token integrations. In English, crypto companies can put their name on a jersey and run ads online, but they cannot set up booths at the venue or tie any actual tokens to the event itself.
The restriction to licensed French entities adds another layer of specificity. France has a defined regulatory framework for crypto asset service providers, so any sponsor operating under this policy has already cleared a meaningful compliance bar before getting near the tournament.
What this means for teams and fans watching
For the 16 teams competing in the VALORANT bracket, Paris represents one of the highest-profile stages the game offers outside of the VCT Champions circuit. A $2 million pool distributed across a 16-team field means the stakes are real at every match.
From a competitive standpoint, the ESL FACEIT Group’s S-Tier designation signals that VCT circuit points and partner team participation are likely in play, meaning results here carry weight beyond the prize money.
