XStable partners with Sui to bring gold and FX markets on-chain

59 minutes ago 11

XStable, a decentralized perpetual trading platform built for real-world assets, has partnered with the Sui Network to bring on-chain trading for gold, silver, platinum, and foreign exchange pairs. The integration, which went live around September 8 with a formal announcement on September 10, adds Sui Wallet connectivity and USDC deposit and withdrawal support to a platform that originally launched on Solana.

What XStable actually does

XStable operates as a decentralized perpetual futures platform focused exclusively on real-world assets rather than the usual parade of crypto tokens. The platform uses a central limit order book, commonly known as a CLOB, which mimics the order-matching mechanics of traditional exchanges rather than relying on the automated market maker model that most DeFi protocols favor.

Currently in public beta, XStable supports perpetual contracts for gold (XAUUSD), silver (XAGUSD), platinum (XPTUSD), and palladium (XPDUSD). All settlements happen in stablecoins, which means traders get exposure to commodity price movements without ever touching the physical assets or dealing with the custody headaches that come with them.

The non-custodial angle matters here. Users maintain control of their funds throughout the trading process, a meaningful differentiator from centralized platforms where counterparty risk is always lurking in the background. The platform also touts programmable risk controls, giving traders and developers the ability to set automated parameters around their positions.

Why Sui, and why now

XStable’s original home was Solana, a chain known for its high throughput and low transaction costs. The decision to expand to Sui rather than replace Solana suggests a multi-chain strategy aimed at capturing users wherever they already hold assets.

XStable’s backers appear to agree with this thesis. The platform has secured multi-million-dollar funding from a roster that includes Amber Group, KuCoin Ventures, and YZi Labs. It was also selected for the Solana Solaris Accelerator 2026.

The RWA opportunity and competitive landscape

Precious metals and FX markets together represent over $9 trillion in average daily trading volume globally. XStable is not the only project chasing this opportunity. Synthetix has offered synthetic commodity exposure for years. Ondo Finance and Centrifuge have carved out positions in tokenized treasuries and credit. But few platforms have taken the approach of building a dedicated order book exchange specifically for precious metals perpetuals with stablecoin settlement.

The platform has signaled plans to move beyond precious metals into a broader set of FX pairs and potentially indices. The addition of what the team describes as “AI-native features” hints at automated trading tools and intelligent order routing, though the specifics of those capabilities remain to be seen in practice.
